Daniel Muscat, also known as CREATUR is a Sydney based contemporary artist who expresses their ideas and feelings into characters.
“My art is focused around characters, which I call ‘creatures’. They appear to look like mutated humans - my idea of a thought or emotion put into a character. Some people consider my art to look like a slug or an alien, however; I am depicting my interpretation of an underdeveloped human. To me, this symbolises rebirth. I use the concept of rebirth in my art as it highlights stages of coming out with my sexuality from a young age. Once we come out of our shell we start to tell our own story and develop our own personality. My portraits are dark, with a twist of emotion which appears to be scary, anxious looking, and a face that tells a story. A story that wants to look to the future, but is hiding behind a mask.
I use these concepts to attract my viewer to express my story by developing my characters into artworks, stickers and digital works."
